As an educator of social sciences and a scholar of democratization, civil society, and political institutions, I want students to develop a critical understanding of modern-day political phenomena. By emphasizing the significance of historical context, I also aim to foster a deeper understanding of the lasting impact of historical events on contemporary political realities. By promoting critical thinking and offering a comprehensive analytical framework, I empower students to navigate and engage with the intricacies of the modern political landscape.
I focus on three learning outcomes in my courses: 1) Knowledge, 2) Application and 3) Inspiration.
During my time at the University of Pennsylvania I taught several courses as a Teaching Assistant, both outside and within my area of research. One of the notable positions I held was as the Head Teaching Assistant for Introduction to American Politics, one of the largest lecture classes held in the Political Science Department. I was also the TA for American Democracy, a course developed by Michele Margolis, where students learned how to design and conduct original research, including fielding survey experiments.
